Early in August we are hoping to replace some old pipe work (lagged with asbestos) across the back of Church. We hope to start on Monday 2nd August. The estimated cost is around £10 000 which will have to come from the ‘Restoration Fund’. Then we would like to create our new worship area with the dais and Communion rail at the centre of the Church. This will also involve moving the pulpit back by one pillar and re-aligning the last wooden partition to create a new entrance to the Leeke Chapel.
There are two challenges here. Firstly, we hope to get an achievable cost by supplying the labour for the work. Would you or somebody you know be able to give up a few days to work with our Contractor to complete the task?
Secondly, we estimate that even with us supplying the labour, the total cost will be around £10 000 for this phase. However, someone has already very generously donated £6000 towards this work. Would anyone else like to donate towards this crucial stage in our overall scheme, so that we can aim to start the work in October and be finished by St Nicolas Day (6th December).
Worship is central to our life together. It will be wonderful to complete this work, so that we can worship God together around the Lord’s Table, and move into the Christmas Season with this central piece in the re-ordering in place.
Together we can do it. Are you up for the challenge?
