Nuneaton Parish Church Choir
· There has been a Choir at Nuneaton Parish Church in one form or another for over 200 years. This priceless part of our church life continues to this day. Each year we look for new members to join the Choir and share in this rich musical heritage.
· The present Choir consists of 30 or so members; choristers – boys and girls (aged between 7 and 16 years and usually singing treble), young people and adults who sing either soprano, alto, tenor or bass.
· The team is completed by the Choir Director, Organist and Organ Scholar.
· The Choir leads the worship at all the main Services and other occasions. Each August the choir spends a singing weekend in the Yorkshire seaside town of Bridlington.
· Choir members receive an excellent musical training. The experience of performing to high standards each week, and the valuable skills which they acquire of concentration, team-work, self-discipline and self-confidence will benefit them for the rest of their lives.
· Choir members usually meet on Wednesdays and Fridays.
· The Church is affiliated to the Royal School of Church Music. A world-wide organisation with over 10,000 members.
• The training scheme, ‘Voice for Life’ is widely used and the completion of the various stages is shown by the wearing of a medallion with an appropriately coloured Ribbon from Light Blue – Dark Blue – Red – Yellow. The prestigious Bronze and Silver Awards are shown by Green and Purple Ribbons respectively. These awards are equivalent to ABRSM Grades 4 -6. The Gold Award is equivalent of Grade 8.
• A lively social diary helps members get to know each other well, which, of course ensures good team work when learning new, exciting and often challenging music.
• If you, your son or daughter, friend, grandchild, relative or neighbour is
